This is an introductory level course which will focus on how to identify mushrooms safely and grow your skills and confidence. We will take a close look at the various features and structures of the fungi we find so as learn how to distinguish them from other species. Bear in mind there are over 8000 species, understanding how to notice the various details and how to dissect a mushroom helps you in your detective work of identifying which one you have. Habit is also key to understanding fungi and this will also be studied in depth during the course.
There are no guarantees we will find edible species or sufficient quantities, if we do the walk will finish with a cook up, Matt will also bring along some prepared wild mushroom based nibbles.
Matt will be giving out a lot of information that he has learned over the years from study, other mycologists and mushroom experts we highly recommend bringing along a notepad and pen.
