St Piran's Day (Gool Peran) is the national day of Cornwall, named after one of the patron saints of Cornwall. According to the holidays tradition the tin miners consumed large amounts of alcohol and food during the week of 'Perrantide'. The phrase 'drunk as a perraner' was used in 19th century Cornwall to describe people who had consumed large quantities of alcohol. We feel it's our duty to support this tradition and keep it alive!
